Our unit is capable of producing 40,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year, with a three-stage rotation and two absorption stages. What is the temperature control for the acid in the upper tower?
The temperature of the acid entering the absorption tower is generally around 75°C. Generally, the lower the temperature, the better the absorption; however, if the temperature is too low, the amount of acid mist increases, and this in turn requires an increased cooling load. So generally, 75°C is sufficient.
