Recently, the media has reported issues with substandard gasoline; Generally, for the production of blended gasoline, the basic raw materials include toluene, benzene, xylene, ethylbenzene, light aromatics, mixed benzene, heavy aromatics, C9 aromatics, C5 olefins, and the additive MTBE. I would like to ask, if something is added to gasoline to tamper with it, what is usually added? Is it possible to add carcinogens that are even more harmful than benzene? Is the amount added large? Two issues are unclear now ; Generally, with substandard gasoline, what kinds of manipulations are usually done to the raw materials? For example, what materials are added, and how much of them needs to be added for it to be detected as substandard? Or perhaps other aromatic and olefinic compounds will be added, but their carcinogenicity is not as strong as that of benzene compounds. Are only highly carcinogenic benzene compounds capable of meeting the manufacturers’ requirements? Thank you!
It’s just a guess, but the substandard gasoline might be due to the heavy metals not having been removed from it
Add direct-current gasoline, then include a octane booster; gasoline produced from the reaction of formaldehyde and methanol generally has a sulfur content that is well above the acceptable level. The required level is below 150PPM, but the sulfur content in products available on the market is far higher than this figure.

I’m not familiar with the technical aspects, but benzene is definitely out of the question; it’s mainly a matter of cost. In fact, mixing gasoline grades isn’t anything new – for example, using 93# gasoline in engines designed for 97# gasoline. .
