The welding materials section lists W807Ni for 09MnNiDR; may I use W707 instead? This has weld assessment support

Our company has received an order in which, for the welding materials, it is specified that W807Ni electrodes should be used with 09MnNiDR steel plates. Our company’s existing welding qualification certificates cover W707 and W107 electrodes – can either of these be used? The main issue is that the delivery deadline is too short; it’s likely too late to conduct a weld evaluation
Personally, I think it’s fine; that’s a design recommendation. If it passes your evaluation, then it can be used.
In principle, it should be done according to the drawings; different weld material grades result in varying mechanical properties of the welds, and this may affect the performance of the equipment
It’s okay; the welding process can change the welding materials specified in the design drawings. But the prerequisite is that you must ensure satisfactory performance. For 09MnNiDR, W707 is the recommended choice, so there should be no problems.
