What should be done with the gas after the initial nitrogen purging of the compressor – should it be sent to a flare or vented?
It would be best to use a torch, but there isn’t much flammable gas inside; it’s also fine to vent it directly. We simply vented it through the vent line at the highest point of the compressor outlet, and then performed several more replacement processes.
It’s the first time the plant outside is operating; there is air in the purge gas, right? If that gas is directly released into the flare network, it will have an impact on it, won’t it?
Some is stored in gas cabinets, while others are stored in waste tanks!
If there are no toxic or harmful gases, it can be vented directly; this is the same approach used for purging new units when they come online
It is recommended to vent directly; using a flare may affect gas tank recovery due to the presence of substances such as nitrogen.
For venting, a method of thorough replenishment and release is used; for pressurization, venting is carried out as well
