I would like to ask the experienced colleagues: in ASPEN, is it necessary to use pumps to transfer fluid between devices that have the same operating pressure? For example: there is a flash tank, followed by a distillation tower; both operate at the same pressure (ignoring the pressure drop in the distillation tower for now). The stream is divided into a vapor phase and a liquid phase through flashing, and then fed at different tray levels in the distillation column. In this case, feeding can be done directly in ASPEN without any errors or warnings. But in practice, it may be necessary to pump the fluid upward to the feed point of the distillation tower; therefore, in ASPEN, does the liquid stream at the bottom of the tank need to be pressurized by a pump (while the gas stream is pressurized by a blower)? BTW: The pressure term in ASPEN generally refers to the total pressure (the sum of static and dynamic pressures), right? Thank you in advance!

Whether to use a pump or not is a technical issue – if one does not want to use a pump, increasing the pressure at the front or reducing the pressure at the back will suffice. To perform pipeline calculations, add the corresponding module
