I am currently working on chemical engineering design and have encountered a large moving equipment unit with a base size of 2000X1500. Given the need for a greater depth of corrosion protection, problems arise at this point: how should the rebar be arranged in the equipment foundation, around it, and on its top? If the calculation is based on the minimum reinforcement ratio required by standards for the base, the steel bar size is particularly large; moreover, since these bars seem to be intended for structural purposes, using such large sizes would be a waste. May I ask the experts: How is the reinforcement designed at the base top, around it, and at the bottom? It would be best to have explanations for the relevant standards. Thank you
In our actual construction, hidden beams are installed, and the rebar is arranged in a reinforcement cage using Φ22@150.
The minimum reinforcement ratio required by the codes for the base portion applies to flexural members. If your foundation is of the massive type, it is sufficient to arrange finer structural rebar on its surface, which can resist the thermal stresses generated by large-volume concrete or the additional stresses caused by uneven ground conditions.
I also want to learn something about basic design, but I can’t find a way to start. Could those who know more offer some advice?
