According to the China Dairy Association, 270,000 parents of children have received compensation to date. However, the dairy association does not have clear accounts regarding key issues such as death compensation. 　　Following the 2008 \"melamine in infant formula\" incident, a compensation fund for the subsequent treatment costs of 300,000 children was established under the leadership of the China Dairy Industry Association, with 22 companies contributing 1.11 billion yuan to it.
