What is the temperature of 50% NaOH? What is the material of plate heat exchangers? It wasn’t explained clearly, so it’s hard to explain. It is likely due to high temperatures, an inappropriate choice of material for the heat exchanger; or perhaps the material was chosen correctly, but the product purchased was of poor quality.

For 50 caustic, plate heat exchangers can also be used. There are many different types of nickel materials available. I suspect that the chloride content in your 50 caustic is too high; not to mention heat exchangers, I’ve seen many evaporators that are severely corroded. It is recommended to analyze whether the chloride content in the caustic exceeds the allowed limits

Reply to 10# Di Xu: Is heat exchange taking place with the circulating water? Scaling is quite severe on the circulating water side; corrosion occurs there as well. There are green spots similar to rust on the circulating water side, and the plates on that side appear black.
