What impacts does a high ammonia content in the acidic gases from Klaus processes have on sulfur recovery? What color will sulfur turn?

If the ammonia content in acidic gases is high, special ammonia combustion burners are usually required, along with higher temperatures, in order to completely decompose the ammonia. Otherwise, as mentioned on the 2nd floor, ammonium salt clogging problems may occur. Ammonia content generally does not affect the color of sulfur products.
The direct issue is that the temperature of the Klaus furnace doesn’t rise
Where does the blockage usually occur, what are the symptoms, and how can it be resolved? We use ammonia-burning nozzles, and since we started operations in 2009, we have not encountered any problems caused by ammonium salt crystallization blockages.
Since the temperature throughout the sulfur recovery process remains above 160°C, any ammonium salts that may form will decompose quickly, preventing blockages; blockages only occur if the insulation and heating systems are inadequate.

When the ammonia content is too high, a specialized ammonia-burning burner must be used to raise the temperature – by about 150 degrees above the normal temperature; it’s likely around 1400 degrees. Otherwise, the ammonia will not burn completely, and a large amount of ammonium salts will crystallize and block the system. The exact temperature isn’t certain, but it should be around that level
