The liquid level at the bottom of the distillation tower rose suddenly from 37% to 80%. Although the problem has been resolved, I’m still not sure why this happened. Please let me know the various reasons for this sudden increase in liquid level.
1. Instrument issues 2. Pump issues 3. Slurry leakage outside the system 4. Whether the oil replenishment at the tower bottom is excessive 5. The amount of slurry flowing up and down the tower as well as the temperature; also, whether there are changes in reaction temperature and processing capacity 6. Any changes in the load in the middle section of the tower
Adding to what was said above: 7. Has there been any change in the properties of the raw materials?
First, check whether there are fluctuations in the vapor-liquid load inside the tower for the distillation unit. Is the slurry discharge line operating properly, and has the amount of recycle being adjusted? If everything is normal, it is necessary to monitor whether the temperature of the reaction bed rises too rapidly and whether there are any fluctuations in the reaction temperature. In an accident scenario, such as flooding of the distillation tower, the compressor will shut down automatically. Anti-recutting material. All of these will lead to too rapid an increase
The external discharge line is functioning normally, the properties of the crude oil have not changed, and there are no significant fluctuations in the reaction process.
In my opinion, the most likely cause is that a backflow control valve suddenly fails and opens fully, resulting in an increase in the level at the bottom of the tower
By retrieving the trend curves of various parameters of the distillation column at that time, comparison and analysis can be carried out
Was it the sudden malfunction of the emergency bypass valve for the feed oil accident that led to flow into the fractionation tower? Check whether the instrument air supply was interrupted
Instrument issues, emptying of the slurry pump, problems with the bottom feed valve, issues with reaction pressure, excessively low temperature in the middle section of the distillation column, sudden incorrect operation of the safety valve
How did you handle it? It’s only by knowing the reason that we can prescribe the right solution.
