The valve stop is set at 80% position; if it operates in this way for a long time, will it have an adverse effect on the valve?

This post was last edited by security on 2011-6-14 at 10:23. There is a pneumatic control valve in use; the system requires a maximum Cv value at 80% of its opening degree. To prevent excessive flow when the valve is fully open, the valve stop is set at 80% position. I would like to know if operating in this manner for an extended period of time will have any negative effects on the valve’s performance and lifespan. Thank you!
Apart from the accelerated corrosion of the valve body caused by throttling, there are no other effects.
