What are the precautions for introducing gas during the startup of a sulfur plant?
Airtightness testing and gas displacement are essential before introducing gas. When introducing gas, a rubber hose should be connected in front of the furnace and a torch should be used; an oxygen content analysis must be conducted, and the furnace can only be ignited once the oxygen level is within acceptable limits.
Before starting the engine, it is essential to ensure complete airtightness and proper gas displacement. When introducing gas, be careful not to use too high a flow rate; first ensure ignition before adjusting the air supply. A pale blue flame is ideal. To prevent carbon deposition, some steam can be added appropriately. The temperature rise rate should be between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius per hour (this requirement must be strictly followed during the initial heating process). If ignition does not occur, cut off the gas and purge it with nitrogen or air until the gas concentration is below its explosive range before attempting to ignite it again (remember, remember, remember)
Ensure the gas pipeline is airtight and undergo displacement; take samples from the vent to analyze the oxygen content in the gas. Before ignition, remove the blind flange in front of the furnace, and increase the air flow to purge the furnace chamber. Ventilate the chamber first before introducing gas. If the first attempt at ignition is unsuccessful, increase the air flow again to purge the furnace chamber before attempting ignition once more;
For the fuel gas pipeline, ensure airtightness by connecting all sections during shutdown. Purging and displacement of the pipelines from the fuel gas tank inside the device to the break point in the boundary area, as well as purging and displacement of pipelines from the fuel gas tank to before entry into the furnace, and other such pipeline displacement tasks. After introducing the fuel gas, a rubber hose was connected at the pre-heater inlet for purging; the oxygen content analyzed was less than 0.2%, and an attempt was made to ignite it. Once ignited, it is considered to meet the replacement criteria, and fuel gas can be introduced. Active participation
Before introducing gas, in addition to ensuring airtightness and carrying out gas displacement, it is advisable to install a gas safety valve. For the commissioning of this new unit, I was responsible for ensuring the gas tightness and for introducing gas through replacement. The gas has been in use for half a year with no major problems. At the beginning of operation, there were minor leaks in the instrumentation area (without pressure testing); slight leaks occurred at the inlet and outlet of the gas tank due to thermal expansion and contraction; and minor leaks appeared on the pipeline flanges as a result of too rapid installation and removal of the 8-shaped blind plates at the boundaries. It is very safe to introduce gas into the furnace using a lighting torch: except for the few points where the torch is used, all other condensation points are covered with blind plates ; Use steam to displace air; reduce pressure and vent steam to 0.1 MP before introducing gas ; The lighter is used to fill the internal pipes with gas (until the flame stabilizes).
