How to simulate plate heat exchangers?
The question is too general; different heat exchanger models have different characteristics
Use Aspen’s EDR simulation, which includes a plate heat exchanger module – you can give it a try! The HTRI software should also be able to simulate it.
Fluent should also be able to simulate it
HTFS has dedicated layout heat exchanger modules; I have compared them with the calculation sheets from GEA and Alfa Laval, and I would say they are passable. Isn’t Fluent a fluid dynamics software? Could someone upstairs explain in detail how to switch to the simulation version?
Both ASPEN EDR and HTRI contain calculation modules for plate heat exchangers. However, at present both of these software programs can only calculate conventional bolted and plate-and-frame plate heat exchangers; they generally include built-in data for the APV, Alfa Laval, and Chantier types of plates. However, it is not possible to calculate the currently popular fully welded plate heat exchangers.

I know that someone has used Fluent for simulation; I’m not sure what the results were. Modeling is not difficult; the challenge lies in segmentation.
