Recently, I wanted to measure the temperature at the center of the coke cake. The technician in charge of coking processes here said that it’s not possible to do so by manipulating the coke. I didn’t know much about it at the time and couldn’t tell for sure. Does anyone know if there is a way to measure it? If so, how should it be done?
There are now complete temperature measurement systems available; they do not measure the temperature at the center directly, but rather install thermometers on the quench cars to estimate the center temperature based on the surface temperature of the coke cake. It takes some time to observe and adjust the difference between the surface temperature and the core temperature.
