The disc feeder is the most widely used feeding device; it is primarily used to handle dry or low-moisture powdered, granular, and bulk materials, feeding them in a continuous and uniform manner. It can also function as a volumetric dosing device. The pit feeder has advantages such as simple structure, durability, and easy operation. Working principle and structure of the disc feeder: The working principle of a disc feeder is that a fixed scraper pushes the material off the rotating disc. A movable metal sleeve is fitted at the discharge opening of the silo; the height of this sleeve can be adjusted using a screw, thereby enabling control over the feeding amount. There are three methods for adjusting the feeding amount: (1) Move the position of the scraper – bringing it closer to or further away from the center of the four discs – in order to increase or decrease the amount of material fed ; (2) Adjust the rotation speed of the disc ; (3) The height of the lifting sleeve changes the size of the conical pile of material. Among the above three methods, method (1) is the one commonly used ; Method (2) is the most convenient and accurate, but it requires a variable-speed transmission or an adjustable DC motor ; Method (3) is generally used only when significant changes to the feeding amount are required.
