The manhole flange is designed for a pressure of 0.78, but the calculated pressure as per the calculations is 2.4. Is a special calculation method required when designing such flanges? According to my understanding, the calculated pressure should be the design pressure plus the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column; the hydrostatic pressure in this case is 0
It is stated in 150 that the calculated pressure refers to the pressure used to determine the thickness of the component at the corresponding design temperature, including the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column. When the hydrostatic pressure exerted on the original is less than 5% of the design pressure, it can be ignored.
