It’s still better to have a base, as it makes alignment and maintenance much easier in the future. Originally, castings were often used for the bases, and the aging process took a long time; therefore, in many cases, when the ordering deadline was tight, they were not used. Welded bases are now being used more and more often.
From a maintenance perspective, it’s better to have a base; otherwise, alignment and grouting have to be done again during repairs, which is very troublesome!
A base is necessary. Our company has just completed the installation of the circulation water pump; initially, the manufacturer did not provide a base. Later, the relevant departments in our company requested that the general contractor manufacture a base on site and install set screws, so as to enable alignment in the future. This is required by standards – it seems that bases and set screws are needed for the installation of any pump with a weight of over 250 KG.
