Is it better to install the regulating valve of the reboiler on the steam line or the condensate line?

Under the same conditions, the requirements for steam pressure should be lower, which can reduce the loss of effective performance.
Personally, I think it is better to choose it on the steam pipeline. Adjusting the steam flow is more sensitive to controlling the temperature of the reboiler.
It is good on the condensate line. It can reduce the pipe diameter of the regulating valve. At the same time, the steam flow and condensate level control can be used for cascade adjustment, which can effectively save energy.

The heat exchanger does not require a large margin, and the regulating valve has a large diameter and high cost. However, the outlet of the heat exchanger needs to be equipped with a good drainage system. Once there is a problem with the drainage system, it will affect the heat exchange efficiency of the heat exchanger, and the condensed water will carry a large amount of steam and be discharged, causing waste. If the regulating valve is located at the outlet of the reboiler, it actually adjusts the amount of condensed water at the outlet of the reboiler, and uses the flow of condensed water to control the amount of steam, thereby reducing the emission of outlet steam. However, there is a lag in the operation recovery stage after temperature or steam pressure fluctuations, and the automatic control process is long. Moreover, because the density of condensed water is much greater than the density of steam, once the control valve or its front and rear stop valves leak a little, it will make it difficult to control the temperature. However, when the temperature of the heated material is low and the area of the selected heat exchanger is much larger than required, the regulating valve can be installed on the outlet condensate pipeline, and the heating area can be controlled by changing the condensate level in the reboiler to control the added heat, thereby adjusting the reboiler temperature. Furthermore, the regulating valve is located at the outlet, requiring a smaller diameter and low cost, and does not require high requirements for the drainage system behind the valve. In fact, it is best to install it before the reboiler and add a separation tank after the reboiler. This is beneficial to the release of latent heat of steam. Nowadays most reboilers are designed like this. If heat transfer oil is used, it must be installed after the reboiler.
