In a three-stage reciprocating compressor, is the compression ratio the same for each stage?
It depends on the specific circumstances; the outlet pressure varies for each stage, as does the inlet pressure, and thus the compression ratio will differ as well. Compression ratio: It is the ratio of exhaust pressure to intake pressure, and this ratio has a specific physical significance for compressors.
I understand that the compression ratio is a very important parameter in compressor design, and it is directly related to the structure. Given the inlet pressure and exhaust pressure, those of us working on the process can only estimate the outlet pressure for each stage based on the same compression ratio; otherwise, it’s impossible to calculate them. If some compression processes involve inter-segment references, the issue of pressure drop also needs to be considered.

Generally, they are different. For most compressor manufacturers, the compressor body is equipped with cylinders that meet various standards in order to achieve different pressures; therefore, it’s quite rare for the pressure ratios at each stage to be the same.
