The electromagnetic flowmeter’s performance is inconsistent – when it malfunctions, either the measurement values fluctuate greatly or they remain at a constant high value. If you ignore it, it usually returns to normal after some time. What could be the cause of this? Especially when starting the vehicle after it has been parked for a while, the above problems are most likely to occur
Gas-liquid two-phase flow, accumulation of static electricity, or changes in the electrical conductivity of the process medium
The measuring medium is only in the liquid phase and the tube is filled; the process medium is generally quite stable, so its conductivity should not change much
This type of malfunction is fairly common in electromagnetic flowmeters; upon on-site inspection, both the sensor and the converter appear to be in good condition. Generally, the issue is resolved after a power reset, and it is likely caused by dirt on the electrodes.
