During this period, there is a relatively high amount of methanol in the circulating gas within the system, and the liquid level in the circulating gas separator often rises, requiring operators to regularly remove the methanol. Are there any good ways to handle this and make improvements?
Reduce the temperature of the water cooler to improve the alcohol separation effect, or modify the alcohol separator
The temperature of the methanol recycle gas was reduced, but the opposite effect occurred: the lower it was, the faster the liquid level in the separated gas from the recycle gas increased! ~At higher temperatures, the liquid level is 1~ lower! ~How to improve the separation efficiency?
Reply to 3# yxgf: After turning off the level control valve, clean some of the filters. The paraffin has blocked it. If possible, reduce the mesh size; after that, just lower the temperature a bit.
There is a methanol separator ahead, but the liquid level in the recycle gas separator behind it is rising! ! ~There’s a level control valve in the methanol separator ahead; indeed, there’s a lot of paraffin there! ~
Lower the temperature of the methanol recycle gas and then set the liquid level in the separator to a lower value; if that still doesn’t work, it’s possible that the demister is damaged.
What is the temperature difference between the separator outlet and the recycled gas outlet? The temperature difference is quite large; it’s normal for there to be liquid. If the distance between the two is short, it might be a problem with the separator design.
The two are quite far apart. Is the demister broken? It’s unlikely, right? Is there too much paraffin, causing some blockage?
There is likely a blockage at the control valve at the separator outlet. Use a bypass to clean the control valve
There is paraffin at the outlet valve of the methanol separator; is this unrelated to the rising liquid level in the recycle gas separator? The valve works well too
