What are the differences in the notation of flat-weld flanges and butt-weld flanges in pipeline construction drawings?
The pipe layout diagram does not specify any requirements regarding the type of flanges
It’s difficult to represent this on the drawings; it’s fine to use codes or text in the material list included in the drawings
It cannot be shown on the drawings, but the flange type must be specified in the process pipeline specification sheet.
On the drawings, unless a line is drawn on the valve or tank equipment connections to indicate a flange, there is no other way to indicate it, so it’s not possible to tell what kind of flange it is. Requirements are indicated only on the comprehensive material sheet or pipe specification sheet, either in Chinese characters or with PL denoting a flat welding flange and WN denoting a butt welding flange.
