How to handle cutting off the feed in a reaction?

Since the self-protection function was put into use, some of the control valves involved in this self-protection mechanism operate automatically, either opening or closing. However, the DCS shows the valve positions corresponding to normal production conditions. Did we adjust these control valves by opening or closing them, and does the self-protection mechanism still function to regulate the valves once it has been reset?
Before self-protection reset, the control valve must be set to the self-protection position. The self-protection function will not activate without the reset control valve in place.
