If nothing prohibits it, then it can be used; as long as there is support from welding procedure qualification, guidance from welding procedure specifications, and qualified welders to carry out the work.

No regulatory standard mandates that CO2 shielded welding cannot be used for welding special equipment; it is merely an unwritten convention in the industry that CO2 shielded welding is not used for welding pressure-bearing components； It is mainly due to the operator; CO2 shielded welding requires high operational skills from the operator and is not suitable for welding in all positions. It’s mainly the issue of carbon infiltration in the welds caused by CO2 shielded welding itself; for ordinary water pipes, this method can be used now
