The existing oil tanks need to be modified; the thickness was measured on-site. How can we calculate the required thickness to determine whether it is sufficient? Thank you!
Your estimate is that it’s an oil storage tank; the operating pressure is likely at atmospheric pressure. It’s hard to say anything definite about such equipment! ! If it’s a ground-based oil tank of the type with a saddle, you can check whether the stress at the saddle is within acceptable limits based on the measured thickness ! If it’s placed on the cylinder itself and the saddle is taken into account, there should be no major problems! ! This can only be verified; it’s not possible to calculate the thickness backwards – the thickness cannot be derived from something else! !
