Dear experts, is Q345R suitable for a hydrogen environment at temperatures above 200°C? Which specific standard should be referred to?
Check section 6.7.3 on page P49 of the Chemical Industry Six-in-One Standard, as well as Figure 6-1
Q345R (HIC) steel plates are required; these plates have more stringent requirements during processing and manufacturing as well as at the time of leaving the factory. They have lower levels of S, P, O, and N, and stricter controls on non-metallic impurities. Higher requirements are also imposed in terms of hardness, high-temperature tensile strength, and performance after welding heat treatment. Most importantly, a hydrogen-induced crack resistance test must be conducted!
