The drum was manufactured by Jinan Boiler Group Co., Ltd.; it is of the YG240/9.8--M6 type, designed for coal-fired boilers. The length of its cylinder is approximately 1162 cm, and its weight is about 53.2 tons (including the internal components). Adding the 4-ton weight of the packaging, and then multiplying by 1.1 (the dynamic load factor), the total weight of the drum when unloaded from the vehicle is 62.9 tons. On February 20, the steam drum was safely unloaded using 4 25-ton truck cranes. The image is as follows. I posted the original image on Zhulong.com, so there is a Zhulong icon. The original purpose of posting this was not to discuss how complex the process of lifting and unloading with four machines is, or how heavy the steam drum is; it was mainly to broaden people’s thinking, showing that it’s possible to do this without using large machinery. Today, the degree of mechanization in construction is increasing steadily. The crawler cranes and truck cranes produced recently have capacities of 800 tons, 1000 tons, 1250 tons, or even more. Some technicians who start working with these large cranes right from the beginning become unfamiliar with the traditional methods used by experienced workers.
