Can the flushing oil system of the pyrolysis gas compressor be removed, and what impact would its removal have on the unit?
It can be canceled and changed to water injection. If neither oil nor water is added, coking will be very severe.

The oil flushing system mentioned by the poster refers to the lubricating oil for compressors, right? Typical pyrolysis gas compressors are equipped with oil injection devices at the inlet and within the compressor flow channels, which create a protective layer there to prevent coking and scaling in the compressor. There are also those that inject water into the compressor cylinder; their main purpose is to reduce the discharge temperature, improve compressor efficiency, and prevent coking at high temperatures
The current trend is to use water instead of flushing oil; water provides better results than oil, and it also results in lower energy consumption. However, using water alone also presents some problems. The pyrolysis gas compressors in our plant were previously lubricated with oil but are now lubricated with water; after disassembly last year, it was found that coking was still severe, and the coke was so hard that it could only be removed using a high-pressure water gun. The new process currently in use generally involves long-term water injection and intermittent oil injection. Our equipment is also set to be upgraded; during the maintenance work, the oil injection ports were already prepared.
Agreed; switching to continuous water injection shows a significant improvement compared to intermittent oil flushing!
