I have a question for everyone: what is the purpose of the small hole located at the spring position above the safety valve on the storage tank? How could chlorine gas appear here? The explosion-proof disc below is in good condition; chlorine comes from the pressure relief pipeline. Even if the explosion-proof disc below is damaged, chlorine shouldn’t escape through that small hole either – it should still flow through the pressure relief pipeline to the accident tower. There is a small hole on the cover of the chlorine safety valve, located at the position of the spring; this is the balance hole of the diaphragm-type safety valve. If chlorine gas escapes from this hole, it indicates that the diaphragm inside has failed and can no longer provide a proper seal. Chlorine gas passes through the diaphragm along the pressure relief duct to reach the balance hole. As a temporary solution until a new valve is available, the balance hole can be plugged up using a plug!
