Are steam ejector devices used in the methanol process? If so, what is the process?
It is used when heating the catalyst. The activity of catalysts requires a certain temperature; catalysts that do not use electric heating to raise the temperature need to employ steam injectors. The temperature of the shell-side water is transferred to the catalyst in the tube side.
It is used in the synthesis section, and can be employed when heating the synthesis catalyst or starting up the process
Before introducing gas in the synthesis process, the catalyst must be heated using a injector, and an injector is also used to maintain heat during short-term shutdowns.

This is also called a spray needle; it is supplied with medium-pressure steam. Once the steam enters the steam chamber, the outlet narrows, increasing the pressure at the outlet and thereby raising the temperature of the catalyst bed.
Start-up steam, start-up injection needle. Some systems use steam as a power source to draw hot water out of the tower and return it inside; the steam enters the tower while the hot water forms a water cycle through the injection nozzles, which reduces vibrations within the tower and accelerates the distribution of the hot water therein. The rise in temperature throughout the entire water system eventually brings the catalyst to its active temperature.
