I wonder how to repair cracks in the lead-based anti-corrosion coating on the beam of household appliance defoggers?
It’s very simple; just use lead to weld it back together. However, if the crack is on the side or bottom, it cannot be welded; the entire lead sheet has to be removed and the process repeated, which is very troublesome, but there is no other option.
Hehe, we have dealt with this situation for 3 years now and everything is fine. Here’s how to do it: if there is lead solder, you can repair it first; if not, follow these steps. Flatten the damaged area using a wooden mallet, then wrap it with PTFE tape in layers – it’s better to cover a slightly larger area. Apply a layer of Gorilla Glue in between each layer, and then continue wrapping until around 10 layers are reached. You can decide based on your own judgment when it’s ready for use. Let it dry for a while – the result is good. Hehe, I came up with these methods through experimentation, and I’m sharing them with everyone
After cleaning the crack thoroughly, applying a few layers of fiberglass resin will suffice.
