When selecting a flow meter, why should the diameter of the flow meter be one size smaller than that of the pipeline? What are the advantages of this?
There’s no rule saying it has to be one size smaller, right? As for whether the diameter of the flowmeter should be one size smaller than that of the process pipeline, it entirely depends on the calculation results from the flowmeter selection process.
What was said above is correct; there’s no standard specification, but it’s generally recommended to choose a smaller size. The reason is that it allows the medium to fill the measuring tube more completely and increases the flow rate. It is beneficial for the accuracy of measurements
