What are the differences between deoxygenated water, demineralized water, and softened water? What devices are used to produce them, and what are the differences in their usage?
Softened water is water that has been treated to remove some or all of the calcium and magnesium ions. Demineralized water is obtained by treating fresh water through devices such as filters, cation exchangers, carbon removers, and anion exchangers, in order to remove mechanical impurities, cations, anions, and other substances from the water, thereby reducing its salt content. Fresh water, which has undergone only basic treatment by water supply companies, is generally used for fire suppression, as makeup water in circulation systems, and as process water. Deoxygenated water is produced by further removing oxygen from softened water and demineralized water
So, what is the difference between softened water and deoxygenated water?
Soft water: Contains only small amounts or no Ca and Mg ions. Deionized water: one level higher than softened water. There are no more Ca and Mg ions, and there is also very little sodium. Deoxygenated water: it is demineralized water from which oxygen has been removed; of course, it still contains a small amount of oxygen.

The atmospheric and vacuum distillation units as well as the sulfur unit in refineries all require several types of water.
