Regarding the size of emergency tanks for safety accidents, I would like to ask those with more experience if there are any relevant regulations regarding this; what is the typical size? There is one emergency tank connected to the safety valve of the distillation tower, and another in the tank area – are there regulations applicable to each of these?

This requires calculation; the discharge operation of the safety valve is generally based on the time it takes for the pressure to reach the safe level after the threshold pressure is reached. The discharge volume during this period is usually around 20 m³. However, a heat exchanger is needed in this setup. If it’s during shutdown and the material needs to be released, it’s sufficient to store it in the tank area – no emergency tank is required.
