After the exchange of the primary cooler, liquid drainage was poor; there was a large amount of ammonia in the liquid after primary cooling, and the liquid level in the water seal tank of the mist catcher rose very quickly. This primary cooler had just been purged – what could be the problem? The drain valves were checked and they all seemed normal; what’s going on?
Is it a horizontal tube cooler? Is there a leak in the pipes?
Was the water in the coal inlet pipeline drained after purging? Also, how many years have you been using it?

Reply to 3# haosf2000: It should have been released – it’s just a matter of maintaining pressure. It has been released; what I meant was that the liquid level is rising rapidly, and this hasn’t happened in just a short time period, but rather over several working days, up to now. When I asked my supervisor, he said that the nozzles were cleaned some time ago, which reduced the spraying resistance, and as a result the amount of ammonia discharged from the upper and lower sections is less than the amount entering. This leads to more ammonia remaining after the initial cooling process. I don’t think that’s the reason, though

What your supervisor means is that after the cleaning process, there is a large amount of liquid to be sprayed and the outlet is small; I think this possibility is low. If the condensate accumulated in the gas pipeline is removed after purging, there isn’t that much water during normal operation – unless there is a leak in the horizontal tubes of the primary cooler
Reply to 6# haosf2000: Well, this primary cooler has been in use for five years now. I heard that day that the cooling water had seeped into the tar; maybe that’s the reason. What they said might just be an attempt to shirk responsibility. Anyway, why would this primary cooler experience internal leakage? ?
Could it be that there is a leak in the horizontal pipe carrying the cooling water, causing the cooling water to leak into the condensate?

Reply to 9# haosf2000: The cooling water in the subsequent sections was checked and no abnormalities were found; no tar was present. There was some tar earlier on due to a leak of thiamine or something similar, but that issue has been resolved, so it’s not a leak. I think it became that way after purging and then changing the system settings. Perhaps air got in after purging, causing the tar to cool, stick together, and harden, which made it difficult for the condensate to be drained. Additionally, the temperature of the cooling water at the lower end is above the normal range (26–27 degrees), so it’s possible that the condensation effect in the primary cooler is poor, resulting in more condensate that gets captured by the mist catcher.
