Why does a packed tower need a liquid distribution device?
The function of the distributor is to ensure that the liquid phase at the top is evenly distributed over the packing, preventing areas at the edges of the top region from remaining without material.
The purpose of the distribution device is to spread the material flow evenly, preventing the material from entering in a columnar form and causing a serial flow that would prevent the filler from functioning properly.
The function of the filler is to provide a site for gas-liquid contact. If the filler cannot be adequately wetted, it cannot make contact, which means the filler cannot function. Of course, the liquid on the surface of the filler must be uniform. Therefore, a distributor must be used, and it must have good distribution performance. Otherwise, the separation efficiency **decreases**.
