A question about fiber optic communication: Can data be received/sent using a multimode fiber transceiver with single-mode fiber? And does the corresponding patch cable also need to be of the single-mode type? Also: How can single-mode and multi-mode fibers, as well as patch cables, be distinguished from each other in terms of appearance?
Single-mode and multi-mode transceivers are different and cannot be used interchangeably. As for the optical fiber cable, I’m not sure!
