I heard that the ethylene glycol storage tanks are supposed to be coated with stainless steel, but aluminum is used instead to save costs. I want to ask: if carbon steel tanks are used for storage, is it because there’s a concern that rust will contaminate the ethylene glycol, or is it because the ethylene glycol might corrode the carbon steel tanks?
There are strict requirements regarding the level of iron ions in ethylene glycol; specific standards exist for this. Both stainless steel lining and aluminum spraying can be used, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Aluminum spraying: it is cost-effective, but has a shorter service life and poses greater risks during installation. Stainless steel lining: It has a long service life, but requires a skilled construction team.
