The metal chimney is 20 meters tall; is it necessary to weld a lightning rod on the top of the chimney for lightning protection? <target=_blank>Lightning rod?</target> Thank you all.
It’s usually not necessary; check the thickness of the chimney. It’s generally greater than 5 millimeters (I think this is the case for pressure vessels). Grounding is sufficient.

The lightning rod conductor can be made using the chimney shaft, but the lightning rod and grounding system must still be properly installed. Generally, a grounding resistance value of no more than 10Ω is required to meet lightning protection standards; it is recommended to conduct lightning protection inspections of the chimney twice a year.
