What are the differences between control cables and computer cables, aside from their specifications and shielding performance? To put it simply, digital signals are transmitted using control cables, while analog signals use computer cables. Can computer cables also be used for supplying power at 220V? Is this understanding complete enough? If one junction box is used to supply power to 5 solenoid valves, does the power cable coming from the distribution cabinet need to be installed in a separate conduit? Is 10X2.5 suitable for this purpose?
The voltage ranges for control cables are 0.6/1 KV and 450/750 V. They belong to electrical products, and Ohm’s law can be applied to their analysis; they are used for transmitting digital signals or low-speed analog signals. Computer cables are those that comply with the specifications of computer interfaces (commonly RS232/RS485/RS422, etc.), with an operating voltage not exceeding 12V. They are primarily used for transmitting digital signals in half-duplex or full-duplex communication, and essentially fall under the category of communication cables, adhering to the transmission line equations. Using computer cables for 220V power supply is a waste! Using unshielded control cables is relatively much more reasonable. To power 5 solenoid valves from one junction box, a 3-core cable can be used in a parallel power supply configuration: 2 cores are used for the positive and negative terminals, while the third core is used for equipotential grounding protection. It is sufficient to calculate the voltage drop and current-carrying capacity.
For devices powered by 220V, computer cables can certainly be used, but it’s a waste. In fact, the power supply itself is also a source of noise; therefore, shielding is a good idea. However, for twisted-pair cables used in computers, shielding isn’t necessary – KVVRP will suffice. As for the wiring of solenoid valves, I think it depends on the power requirements of those valves. If it’s 220VAC, then single-conductor wiring is appropriate; if it’s 24VDC, then wiring it alongside other signal lines should work fine, with shielding between the wires being sufficient
