As the title suggests, for measuring methanol in a fertilizer plant, with pipes of DN50 and DN150, which type of flow meter offers better value for money? I would appreciate some guidance from those who are more experienced. . . .

Reply to 1# Blossoms Falling – it depends on the occasion. For applications requiring precise measurement, it is recommended to use a mass flow meter, such as for measuring the flow rate of products leaving the factory.
1. If methanol contains a small amount of moisture and is not highly pure, a capacitive electromagnetic flowmeter can be used; it offers high precision, no pressure loss, and is easy to install. 2. If a precision of 1% is sufficient, then an vortex flow meter or a turbine flow meter can be used; however, when choosing a turbine flow meter, it is important that the medium does not contain any suspended particles. 3. If a slightly lower level of precision is acceptable, metal rotor flowmeters or differential pressure flowmeters such as orifice plates can be used. 4. If it is for trade measurement, a mass flow meter should be used.

Additional note: If methanol is free of moisture, a positive displacement flow meter can be used; it offers high accuracy, a long service life, and is simple to install and maintain. Such as elliptical gear flow meters. However, in practical operations, methanol usually contains some amount of water. Chemical plants generally opt for elliptical gear flow meters made of 304 stainless steel. We have clients in a similar situation to yours – they are also from chemical plants.
