As the title suggests: Can acidic gases from refineries (containing corrosive gases such as H2S) be discharged into flares?
In our case, the fuel is directly fed into the torch, but it must be mixed with gas that is already burning inside the torch in order to ignite; otherwise, it won’t burn and will produce a strong odor that can have a significant impact on the surrounding environment. Our process involves sending the gas through pipelines to an acidic gas separation tank where the liquid components are separated. The gas that contains little or no liquid then enters the torch barrel, mixes with the gas there, and rises to the top to burn. If a sulfur recovery unit is available, there’s no need to continuously use the torch

Hydrogen sulfide-containing gases can be directly sent to a flare for combustion, but acidic gases cannot be fed into the flare system as they tend to crystallize and cause blockages; a dedicated pipeline and a special flare head are required. However, currently, burning acidic gases in flares is not allowed due to environmental regulations
It is only permitted during the start-up and shutdown of the facility or in case of abnormal production, and a dedicated acid gas flare is provided; it is generally not used in conjunction with other refinery or chemical process flares
It should be sent to a separate acidic gas flare; otherwise, it is very dangerous~~~
