What is the function of the compressor balance piston? Answer: Since the axial thrust of the rotor assembly is directed toward the inlet side of the compressor, a balance piston is installed at the exhaust end of the rotor to reduce this thrust, and a labyrinth seal is placed between the exhaust end flap and the rotor. The inside of the balance piston is subjected to the pressure of the exhaust gas, while the outside is connected by a balance pipe to send the returning gas to a certain section (or between stages). The balance pipeline must remain unobstructed; otherwise, the balance piston loses its function. I’m not quite sure about the locations of the balance piston, the labyrinth seal, and the balance tube I’d like to ask Haiyou! It would be great to have pictures, thank you!
