How is a fan speed controller wired? What is the function of a governor? Voltage regulation or current regulation?
Electric fan speed regulator: One type reduces voltage by directly adjusting the resistance; as a result, the fan rotates more slowly when supplied with a low voltage. Another type is essentially a switch that is used to change the wiring in order to alter the taps on the motor coils (the more taps there are, the lower the resistance and thus the faster the fan rotates; conversely, fewer taps result in higher resistance and slower rotation).
Electric fan speed regulator: One type achieves voltage regulation by using a series-reactance coil; in this case, the fan rotates more slowly when a low voltage is applied. The other option is essentially a switch used to switch the circuit, thereby changing the taps of the motor stator windings (there are several taps; those with lower resistance result in faster operation, while those with higher resistance result in slower operation).
Speed control can be achieved through frequency conversion, the use of series resistors, or by changing the number of turns in the fan’s stator windings; an adjustable voltage regulator can also be used to change the fan’s speed. In fact, adjusting the fan’s f, V, I, and R values can all be used to modify its speed!
Electric fan speed regulator: One method involves achieving speed control by directly connecting a series reactance coil. Another option is variable speed control: the live wire is connected to the speed regulator, with the live wire attached to the input terminal of the regulator and its output terminal connected to the electric fan; the neutral wire is connected directly to the electric fan. It controls the output voltage by adjusting the conduction angle of the thyristor, thereby regulating the speed of the electric fan.
