I work in on-site oxygen production. Why isn’t this method used in water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants? (Oxygen production on-site is much cheaper than liquid oxygen.) . . . )
Used for wastewater treatment after oxygen production? We have air separation units here, but for on-site wastewater treatment, oxygen from air separation is not used – air is what is utilized! Hehe!
For wastewater treatment, air is used directly instead of pure oxygen, which reduces costs significantly.
Technically speaking, pure oxygen aeration is much more effective than air aeration, but it also comes at a much higher cost. There are also examples in practical applications where pure oxygen is used: some large-scale water treatment systems that require ozone oxidation employ a pure oxygen source to generate ozone. I have come across some applications in wastewater treatment plants that use pure oxygen to produce ozone. Theoretically, when the consumption of liquid oxygen is more than 20 tons per day, on-site oxygen production is employed ; Otherwise, on-site storage tanks are used, with liquid oxygen supplied by tank trucks. Some time ago, I met a Praxair sales representative in Shanghai who was still introducing the aforementioned technology.
