Does a newly purchased motor need to be disassembled and inspected? In the past (about 10 years ago), when a new motor was purchased, an electrician would disassemble it, clean it, fill it with new oil before using it. But these days, once a motor is bought, it is installed and used straight away; do people still think it’s necessary to disassemble it? Please
There’s no need for that, unless it’s a refurbished item or if you’re worried about the quality, haha
There is no need to disassemble and inspect the new motor, but necessary checks should be carried out, such as: insulation resistance, DC resistance, wiring method, mechanical rotation test, measurement of bearing temperature during no-load operation with power applied, no-load current, and mechanical vibration
It’s not necessary, but it’s advisable to check the winding insulation, no-load current, and the balance of the three-phase resistance values
It’s best to take it apart for inspection, to prevent a shortage of oil in the bearings or any issues that may have arisen due to the fact that the manufacturer did not conduct proper testing before shipping it.
Disassembly is a good thing, but it also depends on the skill level of your mechanic; if their skills aren’t sufficient, taking it apart and putting it back together will only make things worse. After all, after disassembly, it’s not necessarily still original
According to the regulations, it should be disassembled for inspection. Especially for some motors that were purchased new but may have been in use for several years, they need to be disassembled, cleaned, oiled, and the bearing model, resistance values, and other parameters should be recorded and kept. But these days, most companies, especially those state-owned enterprises that have been restructured, no longer seem to have such a sense of responsibility among their maintenance staff. What I see these days is that devices are simply installed and put into use right away; if they get damaged, the responsibility falls on the manufacturer. Simple, right?
