It depends on the manufacturing standards. The standards for manufacturing fluid process pipes should be in accordance with specifications like 8163 or 9948, while for structural pipes, 8162 is sufficient. The difference lies in the inspection items and focus points applied when these pipes leave the factory
The manufacturing standards vary. For general fluid applications, the national standard for seamless stainless steel pipes is based on GB14976; for structural applications, it is based on GB14975. In American standards, the standards for seamless stainless steel pipes used in fluid applications include A269 and A312, while those for structural applications include A312 and A511 (pipes used in mechanical manufacturing). It seems like LZ is really troubled by this issue. I checked 8162 and 8163, and aside from the fact that the flaring test is specified for 8163 but not for 8162, I don’t seem to see any other differences between them. But in terms of the standard main categories, one is for structural use and the other is for fluid transportation.
