After heavy alkali is synthesized in the carbonization tower, should the resulting heavy alkali slurry pass through a thickener to increase the size of the crystal grains before being filtered? Which companies have installed such a thickener?
Reply 1# merryming: As far as I know, among the soda ash manufacturers in China, some use thickening processes while others do not; The main purpose is probably thickening, which facilitates separation by the filter.

Thickening devices have been used in the industry before, mainly to increase the liquid-solid ratio of the output fluid, which helps to improve the filtration capacity. They also reduce filtration errors; there is no significant effect on crystallization. It seems that Henan Jinshan used such thickening devices back during the pre-Qingming period
I heard that the Jinshan Alkaline Plant uses thickeners, but I haven’t been to see them.
I used it before, but the effect was not noticeable and it wasn’t successful; I stopped using it later
I really haven’t heard that thickening agents are needed to thicken the alkali solution further when producing heavy alkalis.
We have been using heavy alkali thickener for several years; it mainly helps to reduce chloride differences and increase the production capacity of alkaline processing units. It is worth investing in for factories with low alkali treatment capacity.
