What does ‘backflow’ mean – flowing back to where? The main reason?
The differential pressure between the two devices must be well controlled to maintain pressure balance; only then can the pressure drop across the slide valve allow for proper catalyst circulation
Backflow refers to the reverse flow of the regenerated inclined tubes or the unsaturated inclined tubes

Catalyst backflow can occur due to the regeneration circuit, as well as when the main fan stops, which leads to catalyst backflow in the main air pipeline.
Catalyst backflow mainly refers to the catalyst in the riser flowing back into the regenerator, with the main reason being 1) significant pressure fluctuations between the two units. 2) The reserves and density of various components in the two reactors improved significantly; 3) The reaction feed rate suddenly increased. 4) The main fan stops suddenly. Such a situation in catalytic cracking must not be allowed to occur; the catalyst can mix with other substances, and oil and gas can mix with air, which is quite dangerous. If not handled properly, serious accidents can happen.
Reply to 4# kewwek: The main fan is equipped with a safety system. Once this system activates, the safety valves close automatically. Unless the safety system fails to function, this could lead to catalyst getting into the main air pipeline, and it might also reach the main engine
