The issue of crude benzene production

Our plant has two systems for producing crude benzene. The first system uses a stainless-steel wire mesh packing debenzination tower; even after replacing both the washing and debenzination packing, the benzene yield in this system is lower than that of the second system. The equipment in the second system is identical to that in the first system, except that it uses a bubble column for debenzination. From the temperature of the oil-poor gas to the temperature at the benzene outlet, the temperatures in the first system are lower. The first system’s coke ovens produce 600,000 tons of benzene per year, while the second system produces 800,000 tons per year. Throughout 2010, the yields of the two systems were similar for 7 months; however, since this year, there has been a significant difference in their yields. Due to limitations in testing methods, it is not possible to determine the benzene content in the gas. Dear colleagues, with an increase in the volume of gas, is there any difference in the operational flexibility of the packing debenzination tower compared to the bubble column?
The tray structure of the benzene removal tower is very important; it’s best to analyze the benzene content in the lean oil and that in the gas after passing through the tower, so as to understand why this happens.
